Why is my cat crying and using the litter box constantly after boarding?

Poor Tony! He could definitely be experiencing a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or even a blocked urethra and unable to urinate. Since he is crying and hissing, I am really concerned that he is hurting and possibly unable to urinate. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to check his bladder and his urine and get him started on the proper treatment plan to help him feel better. I think you are saying that Toby is neutered. That is good because male cats can vocalize when they are trying to mark their territory. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for a good exam. It is important to rule out medical reasons for his vocalization like constipation, trouble urinating, pain, infection or oral disease. If he appears in good health I would be concerned about behavioral issues. Even though he is neutered he can still try to make or claim territory. You can try felioway around the areas. This is a cat pheromone that can help with stress.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Remus! I recommend, with kittens this young, confining them to one room with their food/water and a shallow litter pan. I keep them in there until they are using the litter pan consistently. Then I let them out only when I am home but do not move the litter pan. Then once the kitten is using the litter pan in his room and the one in the main house he can me let out of the room. Then you can move the litter pan out. As for the crying when he urinating and defecating, be sure his stools aren't too hard. In some way mild vocalizing can be normal and he will out grow it. Yes, I would bring Pigeon into the vet. This can be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones, and the only way to know for sure is to have her checked out by a vet, do bloodwork, and a urinalysis. Because she was using the box previously and now isn't, that can also be another sign something is wrong. Give her vet a call now to make her an appointment. Until she sees the vet, feed her wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure she drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder. I hope this helps!

As long as he continues to pass large amounts of urine and the diarrhea stops the crying should decrease. However if the diarrhea continues Declan can develop irritation of the colon which can cause crying out as well. If the diarrhea continues and/or he is still crying after another day I recommend calling your veterinarian that is treating the UTI to discuss these new issues.?

I'm so sorry Prissy is feeling so poorly. I would be concerned that something else is going on that is causing her symptoms, such as Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, a bladder stone, or something else entirely. Being positive for Bartonella doesn't mean it's what's causing this particular issue, and really her signs don't seem to match up in my eyes. The major caveat is that I haven't seen her, so your vet has much more information and if they think the signs and Bartonella are related, then that's reasonable. I would recommend checking back with Prissy's regular veterinarian for full blood work and x-rays of her chest and abdomen. If that's doesn't find anything, I would recommend an abdominal ultrasound next. I hope she's feeling better soon!
