My cat has conjunctivitis. Should I use eye ointment if he rubs it?

He/she can take a look at the eye and do some simple testing if needed to help diagnose the problem, and will prescribe a safe and effective eye drop to treat it.

It looks like poor Gryffin has been irritating the area by scratching at it. I would get a cone to prevent him from causing more damage until you can get an appointment with your veterinarian. I would keep the area clean and dry and try not to let him rub it.

Hello, sorry to hear about Babu. If this ointment does not have steroids you may use it. If the ointment contains steroids I would shy away from using it unless directed by your veterinarian. If this is a viral upper respiratory infection, this may pass on its own, however if this is a bacterial infection you may need to take him to the vet to get antibiotics. Hope this helps.
