My cat's eye is cloudy, and I can't afford the vet. What can I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 9 lbs

My cat got his second eyelid cut along time ago in a cat fight. Does this have any long term effects? Also he is forming some cloud on his eyes. Is there medicine I could give him for that? My other cat just had perineal urethrostomy. So I'm really low on funds at the moment. Please help.

If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website. I'd also see if you can borrow money from family and friends.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can treat Kookie at home for her eye infection. IT requires medications that are available by prescription only from your vet, and it is illegal for the experts at Pet Coach to prescribe any medication without seeing the animal in person first. God's Creatures Ministry helps pay for veterinarian bills for those who need help. 
The Onyx & Breezy Foundation has many programs including helping people with medical bills. They are a good resource for information. 
Brown Dog Foundation provides funding to families with a sick pet that would likely respond to treatment, but due to circumstances, there is not enough money immediately available to pay.

I can guarantee this is excruciating painful to him, and this is now a medical emergency. Leaving this untreated would be very cruel to him, you have to take him into a vet now. These are signs the Link could have an eye infection, or he could have injured his eye running outside. This is not something that can wait until next week for him to be seen. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it needs to be seen by a vet promptly. This is because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Hello, my name is Dr. Shines and I am concerned about Jerry's eye. That cloudiness could indicate a corneal scratch or uveitis. Both of those conditions should be examined quickly to prevent them from getting worse. I recommend to call around and look for another clinic. If you can't find one, then I recommend to go to an emergency clinic. In a pinch some of the walk in vaccine clinics might be able to help if they have access to eye medications and testing strips for corneal ulcers. Tractor Supply might be an option as they host walk in clinics. They use a company called PetVet and I recommend to look on the website for more information. You will see a high variability in the vaccine clinics ability to handle any type of illness so you'll need to check ahead. At home, Jerry should wear an elizabethan collar at all times to prevent scratching or rubbing at the eye which will make it worse. Keep the eye clean from discharge with a warm, damp cotton ball. But really, medication from the veterinarian is the main stay of treatment. I hope this helps and that you find a vet quickly.
