Why does my cat on C/D diet have recurring orange smelly diarrhea?

Alfie could have a parasite, infection, inflammatory bowel disease, hyperthyroidism, liver/kidney disease, etc. Since it has been a week, it would be a good idea to have full blood work, fecal test, and x-rays done to rule out potential causes. I would also recommend switching to a hypoallergenic diet, like d/d, and see if that helps. A medication called Proviable KP may also help. If your vet didn't already prescribe Metronidazole (Flagyl) than that could be tried, too. If the diarrhea persists than an intestinal biopsy may be needed.

If these cats have not been on long-term medication like probiotics and metronidazole, I would start these. Also, all cats might benefit from a food-allergy diet trial like Hills z/d fed exclusively for 8-10 weeks. This helps to rule out food allergies as a cause for chronic diarrhea. If these things don't work, you may have to actually send out fecal tests for culture and sensitivity to have done at an outside laboratory as most vet clinics are only equipped to do basic parasite fecal floats and smears in-house. Your female who is having behavior issues may benefit from anti-anxiety medications like Zylkene or Lorazepam, or even an anti-depressant. Since all three are young cats, it's most likely that they are sharing a parasitic or other intestinal infection that is causing chronic diarrhea, so I think you are on the right tract to continue to monitor for coccidiosis and giardiasis. They may need much longer-term treatment to clear these kinds of infection. Hope that helps!

I would recommend a urinalysis to make sure the urinary tract infection is completely gone. I would even recommend a urine culture (although can be expensive) it will be a definitive answer. The culture will tell you what type of bacteria and what antibiotics are best. With regards to the stool, I would recheck a stool sample, put Chance on a bland diet and god from there. Hi from Bangladesh! Don't worry, it may take a few more days to see improvement. You may also try a bland diet of boiled chicken, rice, and plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to help firm up the stool. Using a probiotic for cats and dogs can help as well. Hope this helps!!

If he has IBD then you should talk to your vet about trying a prescription hypoallergenic diet like d/d or z/d or possible an OTC diet like Science diet sensitive stomach. These diets are easier to digest and may help with his IBD and the smell of his stool.

Poor Tauta - these ongoing cases can be very frustrating! Ercefuryl is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial overgrowth in the bowel - where bacteria develop too quickly due to poor balance of good bacteria/pH/undigested food, they then ferment the food preventing normal digestion and producing a foul, often gassy diarrhoea. It can be helpful to transition to a highly digestible diet such as royal canin hypoallergenic or gastrointestinal, as well as adding probiotics and some additional fibre to promote the good bacteria in the bowel. Pancreatic enzyme supplements can also help imrpove digestion and allow the bowel to recover. Some patients also develop an inflammatory bowel reaction also and may require natiinflammatory medications also. Biopsies and blood tests for b vitamin levels can also be helpful if cases which do not respond
