My cat has cancer. Family against chemo. Are natural remedies safe?

Doxorubicin is a very effect chemotherapy drug but, with all medications, there can be side effects. Since your vet knows your cat's entire medical history, he/she is the best person to guide you with advice on the best treatment regime for your cat. I am assuming that your vet believes that this drug is needed to help treat your cat's cancer and the benefits outweigh any risks associated with the drug. Your vet will need to monitor his kidney values closely for any changes while taking the drug and discontinue, if needed. So sorry that your cat has a tumor and I really hope that he goes into remission.

I understand you love your kitty! Do the best you can. If you can't take her to a vet for care, make sure you give her as much love and affection as you can, and make sure she always has fresh water and food available, and a cozy bed. I'm so sorry Tough Tony has aggressive cancer! I certainly understand why you would not want to pursue chemotherapy based on the side effects. The list is not extensive, but from what I can find, it appears to be safe to use them together. I'm so sorry to hear about your kitties! Unfortunately, there is no evidence that homeopathic remedies like these work. My other concern is that this is a pretty high concentration of alcohol. I'm sure the dose is small, but still, I worry that it could be potentially harmful. If you are looking for a natural support for herpes virus, I recommend trying Lysine. This is an amino acid that we think may help interrupt the herpes life cycle. It is very safe for any cat in the household and may be used long term to help prevent flare-ups. A few veterinary approved products I like are Vetoquinol Viralys (L-Lysine) Oral Gel for Cats and Duralactin Feline L-lysine Cat Supplement. Just follow the directions on label. If any cat has squinting eyes, is not eating, or seems very lethargic, it is time to visit your vet as these signs may indicate a secondary eye ulcer or bacterial infection that requires medication. Definitely keep your vet in the loop about where her appetite stands/how she is doing eating as they may want to adjust/add medications. Some cats enjoy the food warmed up, so you can try warming it in the microwave (always check temperature before feeding to ensure not too hot). Some prefer wet food, some kibble, some like kibble that has been soaked to soften it. Trying a buffet to give varieties to choose from may help you discover what she finds appealing.

First off, I'm very sorry that Mama Kitty has mammary tumors! Unfortunately, 90% of mammary tumors in cats are malignant. I think your best option in this case is to enjoy the time you have left with her. Spoil her, give her lots of love and attention, feed her favorite foods (but not ones that are toxic!). Spend as much time with her as you can. Monitor her in regards to her quality of life, and if that starts to decline (i.e. she stops eating, stops drinking, loses more weight, becomes very lethargic, appears to be pain), then it's time to discuss with your vet humane euthanasia. It's a hard thing to do, but it will allow her to go peacefully and without any further pain.
