My cat's butt is bleeding and he's dragging it. What's wrong?

It looks like Coco may have a small amount of rectal tissue prolapsed. This can occur if they have parasites, chronic diarrhea, foreign body or constipation. I recommend having her checked for intestinal parasites and possibly adding water to her food to help her pass stool more easily. If she is vomiting or showing any other signs of illness she should see a pet ASAP.

She may have an anal sac abscess, or she could have a little bit of colitis and she just hasn’t had a bowel movement for you to see the full effect of what is going on. It is difficult to say without being able to examine your kitty. This may be blood from an anal gland infection, but could also be from an injury or bloody diarrhea. You should take her to a veterinary doctor as she will need antibiotics to prevent infection.

Blood in the feces can be caused by many different things including diarrhea (can be caused by eating something silly, worms, toxins), can also be caused by rat bait toxin, clotting factor problems, or an abscess. If there is blood dripping from the bum, then I would recommend having Krookie seen by a vet as soon as possible, as some of these conditions can be fatal if not treated right away. Blood coming from the anus is a serious symptom, usually it is caused by a gastrointestinal infection but it could also be due to worms, a foreign body or an intestinal disease such as IBD. You must take Marcus to see a vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

It could be Harper has ruptured her anal sacs. That would cause the blood and pus, as well as the sour smell. I'd take her into a vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is going on with her, and can treat her. Best of luck.

Poor cat. Bleeding from the rectum can be caused by a coagulation disorder, immune mediated disorder (IMHA), rectal prolapse or severe colitis. I would highly recommend taking Murphy in to your local vet right away to have him evaluated to determine the underlying cause since there are many possibilities here.
