My cat's bump is draining. Should I go to ER or wait for Monday?

I would put an Ecollar on Ranger to keep him from licking at it. You can get one from a pet store or you can make one at home (I can give you a link to a website how to do it below). This lump on him could be a cyst, an abscess, or a benign tumor. Ranger needs to see a vet tomorrow for this because it's clearly irritating him. Poor Munchkin! I'm sorry to hear that he's having this problem. Without being able to examine him, or at least see a photo of the area, it's hard to say what this might be and whether it is healing appropriately or not. From your description, it sounds like it could be a ruptured cyst or skin tumor of some kind, or possibly a rather nasty localized infection. It sounds like you have been doing a good job of keeping the area clean. I wouldn't consider this problem to be urgent as long as he is acting normal otherwise, but I would recommend taking Munchkin to your regular vet tomorrow to have this checked. He/she can examine the area to determine if additional treatment is needed, to make sure that it heals without further problems.

Hello! That certainly is a big bump, and it worries me. Considering Walnut's symptoms and reluctance to eat, I an concerned that this lump may be an abscess. It is an unusual location, but abscesses are common in cats, and certainly could develop near or around the eye if he is fighting a viral or bacterial infection. The location of this lump could be dangerous for Walnut, so I highly recommend that you get him to the vet as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep Walnut warm, offer water and stinky foods, and keep him in a small, quiet room. That is very oddly discolored gunk for sure. I would certainly clip (if you're able) around the area to see if it looks infected or can be kept clean at home (clean washcloth, Elizabethan collar to prevent pawing at or licking it, keeping the area trimmed and dry). If Gremlin won't let you look at it or clean it properly, more discharge is coming from it, or it's very large/rapidly changing in size, a vet visit is a good idea. They can safely clip back any hair to make sure there aren't other pockets of infection, can clean the area, and may suggest taking samples if they suspect something more than a clogged pore or minor abscess.

It doesn't look great, but if he is eating and drinking, he does not have a fever, and the area isn't hot, you can wait until tomorrow morning to have him seen by his vet. If the area becomes hot, he gets a fever, or he stops eating or drinking, have him seen by an ER vet right away. I hope this helps!
