My cat's urine is brown. Can I use D-Mannose for her UTI? Dosage?

I do not think that adding the d mannose and cranberry power is hurtful to Lio. However the only thing proven to help prevent urinary obstruction is to decrease stress in the house and a prescription diet like Hills C/D, S/D or Royal canine SO. Typically highly stressed cats are more likely to have obstructions. I recommend increasing litter boxes, food bowels and elevated areas for the cat to rest like cat trees. I also recommend feliway a cat pheromone to help decrease stress. The prescription food has a specific saturation ratio which helps dilute the urine and prevent crystal formation. Hope that helps

If you are worried about a UTI in Jewel it is best to take her to a vet so they can look at the urine under the microscope and determine which antibiotic would be best and safest for her. Causes of inappropriate urination with blood are: urinary tract infection, stress cystitis, crystals in the urine, bladder stone, or a bladder tumor. It is likely that Nina has a bacterial UTI but there are many other causes for her issues. With her history of kidney issues she should be examined and a urine sample should be tested before starting her on antibiotics. Using antibiotics inappropriately builds resistance. I recommend taking her to the Vet and trying to not let her urinate for several hours (lock her in a room with out a box) or collect a urine sample to bring with you. If she does have a UTI your Vet can appropriately dose the Clavaseptin and tell you how long based on her specific infection. I wish Nina a speedy recovery!

Do not medicate your pet without the advice of your veterinarian. Inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to resistant bacteria and may complicate the underlying condition. If Rupert does have a UTI, the nitrofurantoin will have no effect if the bacteria is not susceptible. A urinalysis and culture will confirm infection and identify the responsible organism as well as the best antibiotic to use in treatment.

The most common cause for urinary tract problems in cats are feline interstitial cystitis, crystals in the urine and bladder stones. We can not diagnose diseases over the internet or provide drug doses with out actually examining the patient as it is against the law. Since it is a very small chance he needs antibiotics my advice is to take a urine sample and Harry for an exam at the Vet. You can repost with his symptoms and we can try to provide advice. The most common cause for a female to straing to urinate and only produce small amounts is a urinary tract infections, bladder stones, crystals in the urine or bladder inflammation. UTIs are from bacterial infections which are treated with antibiotics. Your Vet would have to prescribe the medications. She should be seen by your Vet and have her urine tested. You can split in quarters (125mg each) and give 1/4 twice daily for 5 days. If signs are not resolving in 5 days of treatment a check up would be required. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it.
