My cat is breathing strangely after a fever. What should I do now?

If you think Juliette still has a fever and is having difficulty breathing I would recommend going to the ER to be safe. It is possible that the trouble breathing is due to congestion and complete blockage of her nostrils, but occasionally cats can develop pneumonia secondary to a respiratory infection and chest x-rays might be recommended. Trouble breathing is always a serious sign in a cat! I hope she's feeling better soon.

I hate the hear that Khan is giving you a scare. If he feels more warm than usual, it may be that he has a fever. Sometimes respiratory infection will cause a fever as well as a change in the breathing (congestion). Signs of fever are lethargy, sleeping more than usual, poor appetite and not drinking much. If you are seeing these signs, I would recommend to go to the vet for subcutaneous fluids at least. Cats do not take care of themselves when they feel sick and need supportive care so they don't dehydrate. If you are noticing significant changes in Khan's respiratory character, you definitely need to go to the vet. Things caught earlier are easier to treat. I hope this helps.

Fever in cats usually indicates there is an infection present. Cats also can get fever from a flea parasite called Mycoplasma, which is treated with an antibiotic. There isn't anything you can do for either of these scenarios at home unfortunately. A vet visit is required to treat for these and hopefully get Snow back to normal.
