My old cat has breathing trouble. Can I mix doxycycline & prednisone?

Unfortunately, we are legally prohibited from telling you to medicate your cat in the absence of a physical exam. It may be that the Pred may help, but there is the possibility that the symptoms are not related to a prior diagnosis/condition. Having Lincoln rechecked by your veterinarian would be the safest course of action. At the very least, contact your veterinarian and discuss the symptoms.

Hello, sorry to hear about Tig. You can try to wipe his nose often and make sure the air is humidified majority of the time. Most often the signs can last up to 5 days and then improve. In regards to the drooling, yes Doxycycline may cause nausea and vomitng which can present as excessive drooling. Additionally in cats, doxycycline can cause esophageal changes, so make sure when administering this medication you are chasing it with plenty of water. Give him the medications before or after a large meal to limit his GI signs. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I would try to pill Lio with the prednisone. When medications are ground up, it's hard to know if he actually ingested the entire dose, not to mention that prednisone can be pretty bitter. I also responded to your question about Lio's x-rays. Since your vet prescribed prednisone, my guess is that they're most concerned about asthma or other inflammatory issues within the lungs. Albuterol is a bronchodilator, which is used to dilate the airways, making it easier to breathe if constriction of the airways is present. I would assume that your vet prescribed this for your other cat's coughing spells (that's typically how I prescribe it), but definitely confirm with your vet in case they have another use in mind.

I do know your cat medical history as well as what he is suffering from, snorting could be caused by more than one condition and i have no way to know what condition it is. for this reason i cannot give you an answer to your question, but you should definitely point this question to your vet.

I recommend you have your cat seen by a veterinarian immediately if she is having trouble breathing/irregular breathing. She may be dealing with allergies, asthma, or even heart disease, which is often very difficult to detect in cats until it becomes an emergency situation such as this. It's better to be safe than sorry, so I recommend you have her examined by a vet right away. I do not recommend you giving 2cute the ZydaClin you have from your other cat's dental issue, as misuse of antibiotics can lead to resistant bacteria. Without further testing, there is no way to tell if what you are concerned is a tumour is due to infection, trauma or allergy, or if it is a mass. Masses can be of a malignant (cancerous) type that can spread elsewhere and/ or invade the healthy tissue around them, or a more benign (noncancerous) type that is unlikely to spread. Cancerous types of masses are less common than benign ones, but I recommend having 2cute seen by a vet to have the growth tested and to guide treatment.
