My cat is breathing heavily and not acting herself. What's wrong?

Without seeing Nancy in person, I can't say for certain what is wrong with her, but she could be nauseous, sick, or in pain causing her symptoms. Breathing in a different manner indicates illness as well as pain. I'd take her into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.

It's quite serious when a cat is struggling to breathe, and should that happen again tonight, I would have him seen by a vet immediately. Otherwise, monitor him tonight, and take him into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for them.

Yes, I would be concerned. It sounds like Rosey could have a respiratory infection. I'd take her into a vet as soon as possible to get checked out, as I'm concerned about her breathing heavily. Rush her into an ER vet if she starts open mouth breathing. If she's congested, you can also try using a humidifier or bringing her into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections.
