My cat is breathing fast with an e-collar on. What should I do?

I do not really know what is exact issue you have with the e-collar but keep in mind that you can use things like pieces of clothing or other things to try to tighten it up if that is the issue. I would like to tell you that this is not going to be an issue but in reality this can be an issue if he gets to his incision depending on what kind of incision he has. It is very important he wears his e-collar to prevent something from happening to the incision. If nothing works, you could consider going to your local emergency hospital to get an e-collar as they would be open. Best of luck!

Her breathing should have stabilized by now, and this can be an indication of a problem. She is a young cat, but it could be she has a problem with her heart causing this breathing problem. Before you get upset, keep in mind that it's summer in Italy where you live, and she may be breathing really fast due to the heat. Keep her in a cool, dark room. Even under supervision, animals that are recovering come surgery can bother their incision site, so it is preferred and advised that the e collar stays on her for the specified time indicated by your veterinarian or unless told otherwise by your vet. Having it on her at all times lessens the chance of agitating the incision site and prolonging healing times. Hope this helps and I hope Blossom has a swift recovery!

Vomiting and inappetence are concerning symptoms as they could occur with things like a gastrointestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, among many other possibilities. The fact that he is also breathing fast is also concerning. I recommend that you have Pedrito evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

She most likely has a stomach ache if she got into human food or bones. The rapid breathing is a sign of discomfort. She looks fine in the photo but I would watch her closely to make sure she’s eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally. If not, or this rapid breathing continues I recommend a veterinary exam to determine the cause and start treatment. Poor Meeko! You can get Feliway, which is a pheromone diffuser that releases calming pheromones. You can pair that with a Sentry calming collar. If these things don't work for her, I would speak to a vet about medications that may help. Best of luck.

Abnormal breathing in a cat can occur from conditions such as pneumonia, heart failure, asthma, bronchitis, among other possibilities. If her pulse (not respiratory rate) really is 70 bpm as you pointed out that is very abnormal for a cat and at the same time even if it was her respiratory rate it would also be abnormal. For that reason, I highly recommend that you have Marciella evaluated by your local emergency clinic or your veterinarian if open as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include chest radiographs. Treatment would be dependent on findings. Good luck!
