My kitten is hiding, breathing strangely, and has a low pulse.

This is abnormal and concerning. A normal respiration rate for a cat is 24-42 breaths per minute and maybe slightly higher in a kitten, but not that high. Please have him seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

As long as his breathing rate is able to slow to a more normal rate, like 30-50 breaths per minute, and he is otherwise acting normally (eating/drinking well with a good energy level), he will likely be just fine! If he even seems distressed with his breathing, or he is coughing or sneezing a lot, he should be seen by a veterinarian. I hope this is helpful!

It can be seen with conditions like asthma, heart disease, bronchitis, pneumonia, among other possibilities. This is usually concerning in cats and warrants a visit to a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and possible treatment. Her breathing should have stabilized by now, and this can be an indication of a problem. She is a young cat, but it could be she has a problem with her heart causing this breathing problem. Before you get upset, keep in mind that it's summer in Italy where you live, and she may be breathing really fast due to the heat. Keep her in a cool, dark room. Have her seen by a vet to get a health check. Best of luck.

Poor Mochko. With symptoms of decreased appetite and "hard breathe" which I assume means she is having a hard time breathing, it is possible Mochka has pneumonia or an upper respiratory infection. I would highly recommend getting her seen by your vet again or another vet for a second opinion. They need to listen to her chest (auscultation) to check the lungs for certain sounds. If certain sounds in the chest are detected and Mochko also has a fever (greater than 102.5 degrees F rectal temp), then pneumonia is suspected. Chest x-rays would then be needed to confirm. If the chest is free of any abnormal sounds on expiration, then an upper respiratory infection is suspected, which is a better prognosis for kitty. At that time a short course of antibiotics and anti-viral meds (i.e. Lysine) can be prescribed to treat her condition. At any rate Mochko needs to be re-evaluated and the underlying condition properly identified so that we know exactly what she needs to get better.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! At 4 months old the kitten should be weaned and he shouldn't be nursing anymore. If Minnie is having trouble breathing from a medical reason, mother's milk will not help. Unfortunately having trouble breathing is a life threatening emergency. Minnie should be examined by a Vet so they can listen to her lungs. Causes of trouble breathing in a young cat are: upper respiratory tract infection, pneumonia, asthma, heart disease, fluid around the lungs. I wish you and Minnie the best!

Coco is adorable and I'm sorry to hear that she has been having so many changes to her breathing. Heavy breathing with abdominal effort/movement is a sign for concern and can be related to congenital heart defects causing congestive heart failure, pneumonia, pain, infectious conditions, among others. Any breathing changes are an emergent cause for concern and should be addressed by a vet immediately to assure that Coco seems to be stable. I hope that all goes well!
