Cat has blood in poop but is acting fine. Is it serious?

  Hello, sorry to hear about Honey. Blood and soft stools could indicate a GI upset which could be caused by multiple things. Most often, this can be attributed to a dietary indiscretion although usually cats don't get into things they should unlike dogs. Other causes may include viral or bacterial infections, and in cats they also often get inflammatory bowel disease.
  
  You can try feeding her a bland diet for the next 3-5 days, composed of plain white rice, boiled skinless and boneless chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. If this does not improve her signs, or if the blood in the stool worsens, then she should be seen by her veterinarian.

  Blood in the stool can be due to a number of things including internal parasites, irritation of the GI tract, illness, or even irritation from hard stool/straining. Deworming and a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help. If Luda is otherwise acting healthy, you may want to just keep an eye on the stool and see if the blood reappears.
  
  However, if she is having other symptoms such as straining to go potty, increased vocalization, pain, vomiting, diarrhea or changes to eating/drinking habits, or you see blood again in the stool or urine, the blood could indicate something more serious which should be checked out by your vet.

  There could be a couple of reasons why there is blood in Snow's stool. She could have infected anal sacs, may have eaten something rotten while you were out, could have intestinal parasites, could have suffered trauma to the lower GI tract such as from a foreign body, or could have a GI illness. Even though she hasn't had a change in eating, drinking, or temperament, I always recommend a vet visit when a cat is pooping blood. That's because there can be serious causes to it, and it's best to have the cat checked out sooner rather than later. I would call your vet today to set up an appointment to have her seen.   Yes, definitely take Monty to the vet anyway. Because the blood in his stool has been on and off, it could be an off period and it may come back. Given that everything else is normal, it could be he's suffering from intestinal worms. It's important that any bloody stool is examined by a vet, so I would take Monty into a vet today :-)
