My spayed cat is bleeding from her bottom and tail is vibrating. Why?

We do not normally see a bloody discharge in cats with heat cycles like we do in dogs. For this reason I would recommend an exam by your veterinarian. We could have blood coming from the reproductive tract from infection or a tumor, or we could have blood from the urinary tract which could be due to infection, inflammation, bladder stones, bladder tumors. The vet will do an exam and may recommend a urine test and an x-ray or ultrasound of the abdomen to help determine the cause of the blood.

If she was spayed at an animal shelter, sometimes you can also see a small tattoo in the ventral abdomen next to the spay incision. I would consider having her evaluated by your veterinarian as they can both check that but also check for possible reasons for the blood such as a urinary tract infection. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Fiona! I would take her to the Vet during these episode to have hormonal testing done. Cats are unique creatures and they can have extra ovarian tissue that can be missed during a spay. If the test come back confirming this then the Vet can take her back to surgery to find the ectopic tissue. I wish Fiona the best!

There is a chance that there was some trauma to the bladder area while removing the uterus which is located just above the cervix. Some light bleeding can be expected to occur for 1-3 days after surgery but copious amounts of blood or prolonged bleeding should be considered abnormal. I would recommend either taking your cat back to the previous veterinarian, since he/she did the surgery, for a follow-up visit for further care. Or if the trust has been broken with this vet, you can get kitty seen with another expert for an exam and potential urinalysis to ensure there isn't a UTI present that could explain the symptoms that mentioned. As long as there is an active flow of urine and no outward signs of illness (vomiting, diarrhea, bloated abdomen) then this sounds like a relatively non-emergency type situation that can be hopefully be resolved with medical treatment, if any.

Cats do not bleed during their heat cycle which makes me thing the bleeding is unrelated to her being in heat. it could be due to a urinary infection for example, i would recommend taking her to your vet in order to get it checked and treated.

Poor Jady! Wounds like that are often caused by a cat bite or some sort of other injury getting infected then breaking out. I can see it's amongst the unclipoed fur so nothing to do with the spay wound. You should keep it clean with salt water and get her to the vet asap for an assessment. At the least she will need an antibiotic.

This is probably not because she is in heat (cats usually do not bleed during their period), this looks like a severe urinary infection/bladder inflammation. you need to take her to the vet in order to get it treated ASAP.
