My cat with bladder crystals is in the tub. Should I be worried?

As long as he is urinating within his usual frequency and volume and does not have any discomfort or blood with the urine I would not be immediately concerned with regards to an emergency visit unless anything changes. I would recommend submitting a urine sample to your vets office for analysis - you can use special urine collection litter in order to collect this from his litter tray. Your vet team can then assess concentration, pH and presence of microscopic crystals which can help to evaluate urinary health. A wet diet, or a dry diet specifically formulated to reduce crystal formation can be used to lower risk also.

It can be normal if the bladder is empty. It could also be a sign that he is obstructed again. If he’s painful, not eating or his abdomen is firm and painful please take him right in for a recheck. If there’s no urine in another six to twelve hours then that is an emergency and he’ll need to be seen right away for treatment again. Thanks for posting this question. I am really worried about Kent too. Urinary obstruction can be very serious and even fatal. If he was obstructed fir a long enough time it may have damaged his kidneys which may be why he isn't eating. It also looks by the picture that maybe he is leaking urine? That is very concerning too. I worry his urethra may be damaged. I would encourage you to reach out to your veterinarian and take him back in for a recheck and possible blood work. His condition is very serious and could potentially be fatal. I'm so sorry Kent is so sick. I wish him the best.

Smokey may have a urinary tract infection or a blockage. This is an emergency. Please take Smokey to your vet who will determine whether there is a blockage of his urethra that prevents him from emptying his bladder properly. This can be caused by crystals or mucus or cell debris. If he is blocked he will need to be hospitalised, be put on iv fluids, and needs a urinary catheter after unblocking to enable flushing of the bladder and enabling urine flow. Please take him to a vet now.

Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate. If Scout is straining to urinate and not producing any urine she needs to be seen by a veterinarian immediately. A stone could be blocking her bladder and causing an obstruction which can prove deadly. While some stones are caused by infections and they resolve with antibiotics and a diet change once they have any signs of a bladder obstruction surgery is necessary as soon as possible.
