My cats have black ear discharge, vomiting, and won't eat. What to do?

Lucy sounds like she may have two issues going on, the vomiting and possibly an ear infection or ear mites. I would take her in to your veterinarian for an exam and see if she needs treatment for both issues. She may have gotten into something and gotten a stomach upset and need anti-nausea medication. If she has an ear infection or ear mites, this usually can be treated with topical medication in the ears.

If Spook still isn’t eating tomorrow I recommend a vet visit if at all possible. Cats not eating can get sicker quickly. If he has a fever he may have an abscess or infection or viral disease. There is nothing otc that is safe to give cats for fever so please don’t medicate him at home. You can try offer canned food or canned tuna as something different to tempt his appetite. Try to ensure he is drinking and using the litter box. Sometimes the water from canned tuna will encourage drinking. But if not a vet visit may be called for. I hope Spook is better soon. ANy abrupt change in behavior is a good reason to have your cat checked by your vet. Your vet and their staff are trained to gently but effectively restrain and treat your pet without undue stress. If he has something wrong with his ears, the condition could worsen and cause further complications if not seen to, such as ear mites, an infection, allergies causing itching, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will give him an exam, concentrating on his ears, if there is any debris in them they will sample that for examination under the microscope and, based on these results, will be better able to tell you what is wrong and what the best treatment is for your cat.

Hello. This is definitely a very irritated ear, but your veterinarian really needs to see what is going on in the ear canal to make an actual diagnosis. The vomiting should be unrelated to what is going on in the ear, but Cafe could have more than one issue at a time. With having an ear this possibly infected, & vomiting, you really need to schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Without knowing exactly what is medically going on with the ear & why she is vomiting, there really is not much you can do for her at home. I do hope you can have her seen soon. Poor Spookette! It sounds like she may have a pretty bad ear infection. Ear infections can be due to mites, bacteria, or yeast in cats. I'd recommend scheduling an examination with a veterinarian so Spookette can have her ears checked out. A swab can be taken from the ears and evaluated under the microscope to determine if the cause is mites, bacteria, or yeast. She will likely need prescription ear medication to treat. Ear infections in cats can be caused by ear mites, yeast, or bacteria. Unfortunately without seeing Notie in person, I can't diagnose what is causing it and can't say what treatment is needed. She does have to see a vet for this, as leaving it untreated can lead to hearing loss. Vets are seeing pets now for illnesses, and this counts. Please call around to find a vet to see her today. Hello. An ear infection should not be causing your cat to be bleeding or not wanting to eat or drink. It sounds like your cat is very sick. I suggest you bring him back to the vet as soon as possible. Based on what you are describing, he could be very very sick.
