Can a cat bath after Giardia treatment cause sneezing and pneumonia?

If she is having upper respiratory signs associated with the inhalation of the water and the milk such as changes in breathing, difficulty swallowing, nasal discharge, weakness, loss of appetite or other changes, please take her into see her veterinarian soon as she may have developed pneumonia from aspirating the liquids. She may need a chest x-ray to confirm this and may need to be on antibiotics for a while. If she appears normal otherwise, just keep an eye on herald take her in if any of the above signs are witnessed.

Hi Laila! It could simply be she has a respiratory infection, and I wouldn't get too worried about pneumonia just yet. Signs of pneumonia include labored breathing, loud respiratory sounds, lethargy, reduced appetite, and fever. If she doesn't have those signs as well, I would be more suspicious she has a respiratory infection. I can give you some things to try at home for Kitty. First, you can try starting her on an L-lysine supplement - this is an amino acid that has been shown to help the immune system fight off respiratory infections more effectively. Enisyl and Viralys are both good brands, and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription - just follow the dosing instructions on the label based on your cat's weight. If she's congested, you can also try using a humidifier or bringing her into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. Now if she does develop any of the signs I listed above, then I would be concerned about pneumonia, and in that case, I would take her into a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

This is due to a virus so no antibiotics are needed. Usually with rest and time Cherry will recover without treatment. I am sorry to hear about your issue! I would also recommend bathing your cats, as the spores can cling to the fur and cause reinfection, especially with cats grooming themselves. It's not uncommon to see vomiting/diarrhea from a cat from a shelter. Pogba could have a mild G.I. infection was something like G.I. parasites or a bacteria. It also could be due to recent diet change. The sneezing could also indicate a mild upper respiratory tract infection. If any of those signs continue I recommend Pogba get looked at by a veterinarian to make sure nothing more serious is going on and that no medication as needed. However if Pogba stays bright and alert, is eating and drinking and the diarrhea resolves as well as the vomiting it should be OK to monitor him at home.

From the pictures and your description she needs medications and possibly some fluid therapy. Keep her eyes and face clean just using a rag with warm water. Do not use human medications or eye drops. Encourage her to eat and drink, chicken broth or tuna water may help encourage her to eat. Deworming medication may help her diarrhea if it is caused by parasites.
