My cat attacked a dog protecting her kittens. Is this normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

My cat scared a dog for her kitten, and she tried to attack the dog and shooed him away. She was trying to attack him even though he was so big but I intervened and took her in. Is it a normal behaviour for cat she was scaring him as it was her territory.

Some cats are very protective and possessive, while some
Cats will run and hide. It is definitely a personality trait. However, when cats have kittwns in the area they do tend to me more aggressive in order to protect their young. But I agree that removing her from the situation was the safest thing to do. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
