My pregnant cat is stressed and hitting her older kittens. Why?

She is likely to become more protective when the new born kittens arrive and it is unlikely she will become more accepting of the older kittens at this stage. Ensure she has a quiet area to have the new kittens undisturbed y other cats (including her previous offspring)

I would isolate Rosalinda from the other cat. She doesn't need any added stress while being pregnant, and she won't want the other cat around her or her kittens. The normal gestation for cats is 58-68 days, so she should give birth around another two weeks. Once she has weaned her kittens, you can slowly introduce Rosalinda to your other cat.

Pregnancy can be a very stressful time for animals, and it may be hard for your cat to be separate from her previous offspring. However, my recommendation would be to separate him from her so that he cannot suckle/breastfeed from her before her kittens are born. The milk produced at the beginning of lactation is very antibody-rich and important for the brand new kittens to ingest. There is also the possibility that the previous offspring could out-compete the brand new kittens for nipples if they are left together. The new kittens will need the most care and nutrition from the very beginning, and if he is allowed to suckle from the mom, the newest kittens may not get all of the nutrition they need. Sannu is probably close to giving birth, and she can act aggressive during this time. You need to put Sannu in her own room with a birthing box, food, water, and cat litter. She needs her own space as well as peace and quiet. Do not let the other kittens into this room until the kittens are at least 4 weeks of age.

I would recommend waiting until your female cat has had the kittens before really changing anything. IT is possible she is protective and unfriendly to the other cat due to being pregnant. You can get feliway a cat pheromone to help decrease stress in the house. Also, you can try to increase litter boxes and areas of elevation to help calm the two cats. I hope that helps

There is no real harm that can be caused here. Foster mommy cats exist all the time in the wild. However, if it concerns you can just separate them by placing them in different rooms or even having someone foster the other kitties until your pregnant cat has her set of kittens to love on. But again, there is no physical or medical concern here if she wants to show motherly affection to the other cats kittens.
