My cat ate a stay fresh packet from dog treats. Is it toxic?

If you are referring to the fresh packets or silica gel or activated charcoal packets that come in shoe boxes, medications, etc then they are non toxic. Ones that contain iron are toxic. So I would check to see what kind it is. Silica gel are white. Activated charcoal is black but isn't magnetic. Iron is magnetic, black and he should see a Vet if he ate the iron. I hope this helps!

The silica gel packets are virtually non-toxic. They are labelled 'do not 'eat' because they aren't meant to be eaten and the dust from the processing and creation of silica is irritating to the skin, respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract and can cause problems for people exposed to it on a regular basis, such as those who work making them. The beads do not enlarge in the stomach and the exterior packaging is usually soft and presents little risk of injury of obstruction.

The silica packets are actually not toxic, so I don't think the vomiting and lethargy are related to that. However, those are still concerning signs and I would recommend taking Beggar to her vet today for an exam, blood work, and x rays. She could have a metabolic issue, a foreign body, or IBD.

They have a huge database with info on what active ingredients are present, etc etc. In the future, call ASPCA animal poison control at 888-426-4435. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Great question! These litter pellets are made from paper so they are non-toxic if ingested. That being said, if they are ingested in a large quantity they can be harmful and cause an obstruction. Typically once they urinate/defecate on the pellets that should deter them from wanting to eat the pellets in the future but that is not a given. You will just have to monitor Dexter in the beginning to see how he reacts to them. Larger breed dogs will have less of an issue (with GI obstruction) than small breed dogs. I would have no issues trying it with my dogs. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

The good news is that this silica gel is non-toxic, but you may see some vomiting and/or diarrhea from Kramer. If you do, withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If Kramer continues to vomit and have diarrhea in the absence of food or on the bland diet, becomes very lethargic, stops drinking water, or starts vomiting water, then I would have him seen by a vet right away.
