My cat ate lily pollen days ago. No symptoms, is he okay now?

After a couple days, there is no sense in taking him to the vet unless he is acting sick. Fortunately, Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) toxicity isn’t as great as that of other types of lilies, including Easter lily and Asiatic lilies. The Peace lily, isn’t a true lily, so it doesn’t cause damage to the kidneys and liver like the other lillies do.

If there was some pollen on your hands that you transferred on Oreo's fur, then yes there is a chance that he may get into trouble. You should brush him as soon as possible and monitor for signs of vomiting, lethargy and lack of appetite. If you notice that he is unwell, you should take him to your local vets right away. If you touched only the leaves or stems with your hands, it will not cause any problems to your cat.

First off, you did the right thing by calling your vet right away about Evie. As I'm sure you are aware, lilies are toxic to cats. I agree with monitoring her, as you don't know if she has ingested any of the plant or not. The pollen of certain lily species (the Lilium or Hemerocallis species) can be toxic to cats if ingested, and hopefully she hasn't gotten any in her mouth. Clinical signs of toxicity include vomiting, anorexia, drooling, lethargy, pawing at the mouth, foaming, excessive or decreased thirst or urination, and/or painful abdomen. If you see any of those signs, get her into a vet immediately. In the meantime, remove any lilies from the house or any you have outside to keep them away from her. Hopefully, she will be ok. I would recommend taking Hunter to a vet as soon as possible. Certain types of lilies can be toxic and cause kidney failure in cats. However with Hunter being 17 it is possible something else could be going on causing him illness like infection, dental disease, kidney disease, and even cancers. I think it is best for him to see a vet and have a good physical exam and blood work to determine why he is so sick. I hope he feels better soon

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Louie! Unfortunately, EVERY part of the Lily is very toxic and deadly to cats. It causes acute kidney failure. Time is of the essence and I urge you to take Louie to an open Veterinary Emergency hospital for care. It is not wise to wait until tomorrow because sadly it could be too late to reverse the damage to his kidneys. Sounds like the worst is over for her as far as this exposure situation. I would continue to monitor her for any other signs of ongoing problems from the exposure like vomiting, depression, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hypersalivation, anorexia, tremors. If any of these signs return or linger, I would advise seeing your veterinarian ASAP. Kidney failure associated with toxin exposure is most often seen with an initial increase in thirst and urination frequency but as the kidneys become more damaged, they begin to shut down leading to a decreasing amount of urine produced. The kidneys can go into complete failure where no urine is produced at all and the pet quits urinating. So if you are noticing an increase in thirst and urination frequency/large volumes of urine produced or you notice no urination at all, I would consult your vet ASAP so they can get blood and urine to make sure the kidneys are functioning normally. Even if you don't see those signs and you want to make sure everything is ok, go to your vet and let them run some tests. In my opinion, sounds like the worst is over and preventing further exposure to the lily is all you need to do. Again, if you are concerned, your vet can run some tests on her urine and blood and evaluate her organ function. Good luck and I wish you and her the best!

If left untreated, it can be fatal, and Callie has to see a vet right away. I would call a friend to see if they could come watch your baby, and take her into a vet now.
