My cat ate a daylily leaf. Is it toxic to cats? What should I do?

Unfortunately, the lily plant is one of the most toxic houseplants for cats, and eating as little as two or three leaves is enough to cause liver failure. After a couple days, there is no sense in taking him to the vet unless he is acting sick. Fortunately, Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) toxicity isn’t as great as that of other types of lilies, including Easter lily and Asiatic lilies. The Peace lily, isn’t a true lily, so it doesn’t cause damage to the kidneys and liver like the other lillies do.

Time is of the essence and I urge you to take Louie to an open Veterinary Emergency hospital for care. Unfortunately star gazer lilies are toxic to cats. Cats aree the only animals affected!. Vomiting, inappetence, lethargy, kidney failure and death is possible. Hopefully Ronald vomited all the plant material and will not be affected. Please watch for inappetence, lethargy and more vomiting. If this occurs he needs to be taken to a veterinarian or a PetEr right away. If you think he did not get rid of all the missing plant parts, take him to a vet this morning for an exam. The vet will want to take blood as a base line this morning so he can compare values to monitor his kidneys.

Hello, oleander contains a toxin which affects the hear. Other signs include nausea, vomiting, drooling. However, signs are typically seen within an hour or two after ingestion. If Misty is currently doing ok, then I would continue to monitor her for any evidence of weakness, collapse, lethargy, or vomiting and bring her to your veterinarian if you notice any of the above. Oh no, that's not good that Layla ate a petal from a lily! As I'm sure you know, the lily is toxic to dogs and causes GI upset, anorexia, and tremors. Typically a dog has to eat large amounts of it to cause these symptoms, so one petal may not be enough to cause any problems. I would watch Layla for now, and if you do see any GI upset in the form of vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to try. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
