Why is my cat antisocial and not affectionate? How can I bond with her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 months and 13 days old | 10 lbs

Hi my Luna is still very antisocial i thought by now she would get closer and bonded but not much has changed. She doesn't like to be petted, grommed, carried etc. She lets me pet her for like 2 minutes and walks away. Or she rubs her check on my hand once and walks away. It's as if she is saying i like you but stay away. I play with her daily, I give her treats and lay around her but no pressure. I want to show more love but can't. Please help

Sorry to hear Luna isn't very social with you. Cats, just like people, are individuals. Some are very outgoing while others are reserved. It sounds like you are doing everything right. You can try different toys or calming agents (such as Feliway) but they may not cause any changes in her. She may still warm up over time.
