What litter box is best for my senior cat with vision & mobility?

Best thing to do is to get a long, shallow plastic storage container (obviously just the box and not the lid) like the ones you get to store things under the bed. Seems to work the best. Cats like it because it is long. You can make it any size you want. I would consider purchasing a large litterbox to allow her easy access. I would also recommend removing the cover if it is a hooded litterbox to allow her more room to turn around. A peat/soil based or sawdust based pellet is less likely to stick to his paws, you can also try using only a bare scattering of litter over newspaper but this would then need emptying at least twice daily

You can put it on a table that is big enough to leave some walking space in front of the box. Make sure the box is fixated on the table in such a way, that it does not move (you can put velcro on the table and the box). Put the table and box against a wall. Show your kitty where the box is. She should be able and willing to jump up and use it. The other possibility is to have the box in kind of a lift (sits in a basket that has a rope affixed and you can pull it up via a pulley. For example, a disease that will increase his thirst will make him urinate more and this can lead to going out of th box. If he does not have an underlying disease, then it is a behavioral problem. In this case, you need a minimum of one litterbox for every cat in the house plus one. Most cats prefer uncovered boxes. The boxes need to be in safe locations away from loud noises such as appliances. Older cats are prone to arthritis and it can be difficult to get in and out of the litterbox. In this case using the lid to a large Sterilite storage container is an option. The very low lip may make it easier for him to access it. I hope this information helps!

So sorry that she is having problems and it is always a very difficult decision. Have her examined by a vet to see if there is anything that can be done to make her more conformable. She might be having hip and/or back pain making it difficult to get in the litter box. An anti-inflammatory or pain medications may help make her more comfortable and improve the quality of her life. If not, then it might be time to consider euthanasia. 20 years old is amazing and she is certainly lucky that you rescued her!

Some cats with arthritis will stop using the litter box because it hurts too much to get in. I would also change the litter so that the old litter box has the new litter (if you haven't done so already).
