What wet food brands are best for my senior cat on a budget?

Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. The first three brands are a little pricier, but they are very high quality. Iams is also high quality, but it's at a more reasonable price. If you are looking at a supermarket brand of wet cat food, I recommend Purina. I hope this helps!

I really like Hill's Science Diet, Iams (very inexpensive), or Purina for better options that are much better than Fancy Feast. It is good that you want to go with a wet food, since cats are not big water drinkers. This will help promote good kidney and urinary bladder health. You can also mix in the wet food with dry to help stretch out the wet food and make it even more affordable! I personally recommend feeding Mila Iams. It's an excellent quality food but it's not as expensive as brands such as Royal Canin and Hill's Science diet. You can also see if Purina ProPlan is affordable for you, that's another excellent food. Each food has a different daily requirement, so I would read the label on the food package and feed her according to that. I hope this helps :-)

Wellness, Weruva and Royal Canin are all good choices. When it comes to a canned food, look for one with a named protein source of animal (not plant) origin. Choose a food that comes from the can looking like a hockey puck. Avoid foods with gravies or sauces. These are typically higher in carbs which can predispose a cat to obesity. Avoid meat meals, by-products as well as store or discount brands. These latter two contain low quality ingredients and more fillers.

Both dry and wet diets are equally good in general especially for younger cats. You want to buy a food that is from a reputable company and meets AAFCO standards. Purina ProPlan is an excellent food, one I highly recommend. Not only do they meet AAFCO standards, but they have veterinary nutritionists on staff to ensure the food meets a cat's nutritional needs and run feeding trials. If Kenwood likes Blossom's Purina, it's fine to feed him that as well. You can feed Kenwood a mix of wet and dry food to help him lose a bit of weight. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

If Christian is doing well ont he Fancy Feast, I would just continue with this, as it is a safe food and as long as he doesn't have any other health issues should be fine if he is eating it well. I would, however, recommend having him examined by a vet to ensure there isn't a reason he stopped eating hard food such as oral pain, and also as a senior pet it is recommended to have a check up and bloodwork yearly. Canned/wet food is actually ideal for cats due to the fact that they often don't get enough water through drinking so the wet food is better for urinary tract healthy, but any time we have a change in appetite, it should be investigated!
