Considering adopting cats from a meth lab bust, are they safe?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female

There was a meth lab drug bust in our area, they had outdoor cats. Are they going to be ok? They are now abandoned and we considered taking them in.

If there were any fumes or exposure to toxins, they could have respiratory issues or irritation of the respiratory tract. You'd see evidence from trouble breathing, loud breathing, or any obstruction to airflow. But if they were outside and away from the action they should be ok as long as they couldn't ingest any harmful chemicals either. If they neurologically appear normal (normal walking, no tremors or seizures) I wouldn't worry too much.
Hopefully they don't go breaking bad!
