How often and what to feed my 5-month-old kitten? Is pooping normal?

As long as Okoye is pooping at least once a day, I wouldn't be too worried about her. I would be concerned if she wasn't pooping at all. Make sure the milk you are giving her is kitten milk replacer or a specific cat milk. Cats are lactose intolerant and shouldn't be given cow's milk. I would feed her at least three times a day with wet food. This is because wet food can dry out quickly and become unappetizing to her, leading her to not eat it. You can mix together wet food and dry food for her, or just feed her dry food. If you feed her dry food, you can leave the food out all the time. Feed her three times a day with the wet food until she is six months old, and then you can feed her twice a day. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Congrats on your new kitten! Yes, it is normal for a kitten to pass multiple times a day, especially if she is being fed multiple times a day or has food left out at all times. Poop does stink lol! It could be the combination of the food causing the smell, but I would continue to feed it to Ovey because it was recommended by your vet :-)

Eliminations and the frequency thereof, are dependent on many things depending on food intake, type of food, water intake etc. As long as she is not straining and trying to poop, it could be up to another 24-36 hours. She is getting accustomed to her new and that is probably slowing up the fecal elimination process. Again, no straining to have a bowel movement usually means that everything is ok, especially if the kitten is eating and drinking normally. Just keep monitoring for a bowel movement and monitor behavior, appetite, etc. If things change and you are unsure have your veterinarian evaluate the kitten. I hope everything works out ok.

You should feed her kitten food, canned food if possible because it adds water to her diet since most cats don't drink a ton of water. This in turn helps promote good urinary and kidney health long term. You should get a high quality kitten food such as Fromm, Hills science diet, Royal Canin, Evo or Eukanuba. I would keep offering water, but I wouldn't be too worried about how much he's taking in as long as he continues to grow and be playful with a good appetite. As long as water is available, he will figure it out. Canned kitten food is more complete and balanced than formula, so if he's eating that then it's a better option than formula. You could encourage a bit more water intake by adding extra water to his canned food and mixing it into a slurry. It wasn't indicated how long you've had him, so I'm not sure if the not pooping is a concern. Cats will generally defecate about 1-2 times daily. Of course, if you feel something isn't right, then it's best to have him checked out by your vet.

Hello. At 4 weeks of age, your kitten should be well on the way to eating solid food. I would prepare a dish of wet cat food mixed with a little kitten milk replacer & offer her this 3 times a day. If she still wants the bottle, I would only be doing this twice a day to encourage her to eat the solid food. A kitten this age will probably have 2-3 bowel movements in a 24 hour period.
