Monitor him for more episodes. Determine if it was regurgitation (which can be normal) or true vomiting. When birds vomit, they typically flick their head from side to side while ejecting matter. Regurgitation is accompanied by bobbing the head up and down and bringing up food. It is not as violent or serious an action as vomiting. If it is vomiting, Patito should be examined by a veterinarian. You may need to take him to the nearest veterinary ER. If he is behaving normally (not lethargic or fluffed up) then he may be able to wait until your vet is available. Keep him warm and as stress free as possible until he sees the vet.

Thanks for reaching out about Charlie. It is possible she is regurgitating as a hormonal behavior, but other things can cause this also. Crop or stomach foreign bodies, ingested toxins and metal toxicity, metabolic concerns (liver, renal disease) are among the list of things that can cause regurgitation. If she is loosing body size and getting thinner, she needs to see an avian veterinarian. Has she laid an egg or acting hormonal otherwise? Good luck.

If Enzo was bobbing his head up and down, he was likely regurgitating. Birds do this to share food or feed their mates, chicks or owners. It is a high compliment if he regurgitated for you! Vomiting is a symptom of a sick bird and is characterized by a quick flicking of the head from side to side as ingesta is ejected. This requires veterinary attention.

Based on the behavior you are describing I am concerned that Alif may have something stuck in her throat/mouth that is causing her discomfort and making her not want to eat. She may also be regurgitating in an attempt to dislodge whatever is stuck. However, this behavior could also be a seizure type behavior. It is hard to say without actually seeing what Alif is doing. You need to get her in to a vet as soon as possible. Until then, continue to offer her plenty of fresh water and her favorite foods to encourage eating. Regurgitation can be caused by many thing such as ingestion of foreign material (plastic, fabric, wood, etc), toxic ingestion (lead, zinc,plants), metabolic disorders (liver, kidney), infections and several viral diseases. Each of these have different means of diagnosis and possible treatments, therefore a veterinary visit is recommended. Chronic regurgitation can lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition, and more, making a veterinary visit even more expedient. Try offering small amounts of food and water, more frequently to decrease possibility of regurgitation. Good luck.

Vomiting and nasal discharge in birds can be a sign of bacterial or fungal infections, toxin ingestion, as well as damage to the crop (the area that stores food in the esophagus).
