Is it safe to spray my bird or cage to repel summer insects?

Re: My Canary, Ringo. With Summer coming, and Mosquitoes, Flies, Spiders, etc., is there anything I can spray on Ringo, or his Cage, to keep these Insects away from Ringo? Will any of these insects harm him? Or, Kill him?

I would avoid using any type of insecticide on or around your bird. This could be potentially dangerous for him and could cause respiratory issues.

If the insect population is severe you may want to move Ringo inside for the summer or to an area that has less insects. If the insect population is not too severe then I would not worry too much about them bothering him.
