My pigeon is always sleeping and acting strange. What's happening?

Shivering is unfortunately a general sign and not an indication of anything specific. It could be that your bird is cold or nervous, and moving her to a warmer, quieter location may help reduce stress and help her regulate her temperature. If she has other symptoms in addition to shivering, such as not wanting to eat or drink, changes in stool, sleeping all the time, etc, then this can indicate illness and should be checked out by a vet in person if she doesn't improve after a day or so.

If your lovebird is suddenly very lethargic, you should have her seen by a vet. She might have an infection or other illness that needs treating. Birds are good at hiding illness, so once they look sick,they are often so much sicker than you think. Please get her seen by a vet to figure out what might be going on.

Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. Hi! Sleeping with head bent down or under a wing can be normal. However, if Prince is more lethargic and sleeping more than normal, I would agree that he could be sick with an infection or some other illness. therefore, I would recommend you take him to see a veterinarian since birds can get seriously ill very fast. An exam with your vet or an experienced avian vet is always recommended for new birds. At the very least, Phoebe will get a clean bill of health. The sleeping posture and squeaking noises are normal unless Phoebe is sleeping all the time. This doesn't seem to be the case by your description. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or loose droppings. These are symptoms that should be addressed by a vet.

Lethargy and sleeping during the day (to conserve energy) are clinical signs of being sick, the question is why. Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give some support. Monitor fecal production by a total cage clean-out. Sick birds often act like they're eating but aren't. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Unfortunately, those are very general signs of illness that can be caused by a number of things, so seeking veterinary care is best to help narrow down the cause and get her feeling better. Illness, infections, parasites, malnutrition, etc can all cause a bird to become ill and lethargic. Until you can get to the vet, you can move Sky to a separate hospital cage that is kept warm if she is kept with other birds, with easy access to food and water, and in a calm, quiet location. This may help her some until your vet can determine the issue.
