My pigeon laid an egg and now can't use her leg. What's wrong?

You may see a larger than normal amount of stool a day before or after a bird lays an egg, but it should not be diarrhea nor should it last a week. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. If you supplement the diet with fruit or vegetables, discontinue temporarily and offer a commercial pelleted diet until the stool is normal. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite or continued loose droppings. See or recheck with your veterinarian if necessary.

She is probably drinking water. I am sure you are not looking at her 24/7 so I would assume she is drinking when you are not watching. If she is not drinking or eating well then she is probably sick. She may have a vitamin/mineral deficiency from laying the eggs. Splayed legs can sometimes be splinted together to help the leg grow back into a normal position, strengthen it, and help your bird start to perch and move around. It would be best to bring Piji into a vet so the leg can be examined for any injuries or other issues that might be causing it to be splayed, and splinting can get started if needed. Making sure your birds are also on a balanced diet is a good idea to help prevent any nutritional deficiencies during the growing process.

Calcium deficiencies can manifest in bone and/or nerve problems. A radiograph is recommended to assess bone density and if egg bound. Providing heat support in the 80-85 F range can give aid.
