Why is my green parrot's beak color changing or looking dull?

Some foods and pellets can also cause staining of the beak or feathers, so checking to see if any fruits or vegetables given match the discoloration may alert you to what is causing it so you can remove it and offer other items in addition to her regular diet.

Feather changes can be for a number of reasons including normal molting, aging to adulthood, parasites, skin issues and nutrient problems. If Rangu is acting ill at all (not eating or drinking, sleeping a lot, losing feathers, etc) scheduling a vet checkup to look for any potential issues is best.

Hi, I don't see anything abnormal about the beak. The external layer is made of keratin and this is constantly regenerated while the outermost layer wears off. The older layer may look less colorful. The only thing you should do is make sure that Maximus gets good nutrition (pellets) and has plenty of wood toys to bite on.

Thanks for reaching out about Keke and including a photo. Unfortunately the photo does not indicate an abnormality as is slightly out of focus and dark. Discolored beaks and dull plumage can be an indication of illness, whether an infection or due to sub-standard nutrition. If you haven't seen a veterinary after acquisition, that would be a good idea. Also discuss with the vet the proper nutrition for birds, as seed is not an all inclusive nutritional palette. Good luck.
