Why is my parakeet standing on one leg and holding food with it?

This is no cause for concern. Some birds do it, others don't. If he is having difficulty perching, grasping or walking, then that IS a cause for concern requiring an exam with your veterinarian or an experienced avian veterinarian.

Inability to perch and balance are very concerning signs, and seeking vet care is needed to find the problem. During the developmental phases of grown, bones are soft and bend easily. You can attempt to "hobble" the legs underneath her in an attempt to correct things but prognosis is not good.
