Why is my baby lovebird's leg splayed and the other not moving?

Most birds with splay leg will not recover from this unfortunately, there are congenital and infectious disease that can cause that but the prognosis is usually not good. in most cases euthanasia is the best thing you can do for her.

Splayed legs can sometimes be splinted together to help the leg grow back into a normal position, strengthen it, and help your bird start to perch and move around. It would be best to bring Piji into a vet so the leg can be examined for any injuries or other issues that might be causing it to be splayed, and splinting can get started if needed. Fungal infections usually affect the respiratory or gastrointestinal tracts and not neurologic issues. Arthritis or articular gout are possible and radiographs are recommended to assess. Anti-inflammatories could help relieve discomfort but blood work should be taken prior to long term medications. Congenital/development problems or diseases such as paramyxoviurs, PBFD, bacterial meningitis, are all possible. A veterinary visit is recommended to assist with a diagnostic/treatment plan.
