My Moluccan bird threw up clear liquid but seems fine. Should I worry?

Vomiting in parrots could be due to a yeast infection, bacterial infection, viral infection or ingestion of a foreign body in most cases. it is extremely important that you take Magic to an avian vet specialist to get it checked and treated as there is nothing you can do at home to help.

I don't think this warrants a visit to the vet right away. I would definitely continue to monitor the situation closely to see if Lina has anything else coming out of her mouth over the next few hours. She may have just gotten a nasty taste in her mouth causing what you saw. . Certainly taking her to the vet wouldn't necessarily be the wrong thing to do if you are really worried, but I think that it really wouldn't be wrong to wait it out a little longer to see what happens.

It can be normal for a bird to regurgitate food food or liquid from time to time so I would not be too overly concerned. If the regurgitation continues or Sunny stops wanting to eat and/or his stools are abnormal you may want to have him checked out. Those are some pretty loose stools and/or vomit. I would pick up any extras such as toys he may be eating, snacks, treats, etc for a day to see if this resolves the issue as these can sometimes cause GI irritation and upset. If the vomiting continues, you see more loose stool, or you see other symptoms such as changes in appetite, behavior, energy levels, etc, then it would be best to bring your bird to your vet as there could be an issue such as an infection, obstruction, GI upset, parasites, etc causing it.

Monitor him for more episodes. Determine if it was regurgitation (which can be normal) or true vomiting. When birds vomit, they typically flick their head from side to side while ejecting matter. Regurgitation is accompanied by bobbing the head up and down and bringing up food. It is not as violent or serious an action as vomiting. If it is vomiting, Patito should be examined by a veterinarian. You may need to take him to the nearest veterinary ER. If he is behaving normally (not lethargic or fluffed up) then he may be able to wait until your vet is available. Keep him warm and as stress free as possible until he sees the vet.
