Why is my lovebird sleeping all day, throwing up, and falling?

Thanks for reaching out about Tweety. Providing heat support can give some aid but is not a treatment in itself. A veterinary visit is highly recommended, as Tweety appears to be ill. Check and correct diet, as an all seed diet is not sufficient for proper health. Vitamins, mineral and proteins are also needed. If your lovebird is suddenly very lethargic, you should have her seen by a vet. She might have an infection or other illness that needs treating. Birds are good at hiding illness, so once they look sick,they are often so much sicker than you think. Please get her seen by a vet to figure out what might be going on.

Unfortunately, those are all very vague symptoms that are common to several issues. Anything from illness to infection, parasites, etc may be the cause of Lala's symptoms. If he continues to show them, seeking veterinary care is best for an exam to figure out the cause. it is also a good idea to move him to a hospital cage that is kept warm with easy access to food and water and separated from other birds to allow him to rest until you can get to the vet.

Tweety bird needs to be seen by an avian veterinarian immediately. These guys are so little that they can decompensate quickly when sick. Vomiting and anorexia in a bird this size can quickly become fatal.

Poor Turri! It sounds as if the injured toe/foot is causing him some distress and pain which could be why he is showing other symptoms of illness. If he is limping and also acting ill, it would be best to bring him to a vet ASAP so that the foot can be examined and treated, and any other underlying conditions ruled out to help get him feeling better. Until you can get to your vet, keeping him warm, with low, flat perches that are easy to stand on and food and water dishes that can easily be climbed in and out of may help make him more comfortable.

Thanks for reaching out about Tucker. It is agreed, he does appears sick. Contacting the seller or seeing a veterinarian TODAY is recommended. Once birds show they are sick, they are fairly advanced. Removing perches, providing supplemental heat, offering food an dater via a syringe, can give some comfort, but is not in exchange for veterinary care. Good luck.

Sounds like you need to take him to your veterinarian due to the behavior and clinical signs that you are describing. Your vet can perform a physical exam and then advise some tests to try to determine what is going on. They can run some quick tests in house such as a fecal wet mount and fecal smear to evaluate the organisms present. Birds can get something called AGY or Avian Gastric Yeast which can cause these types of problems. Also foreign bodies can be ingested even if the bird is caged constantly from toys, cage covers, etc. A cloacal swab can be obtained and sent out as well as bloodwork and x-rays. Once all of the tests are completed, a sound treatment plan can be put into place. So Sorry you are experiencing this problem with Baby. Good Luck
