Found an injured wild baby duckling. What should I do to help?

Contact the local veterinary clinic. Ask if the have contact information for a local wildlife rehabilitator. If you can get the bird to a rehabber, it will have an excellent chance at eventual release. House sparrows eat seeds and grains. In the meantime, you can offer a seed mix including millet and sunflower seed. Some moistened dry dog food can also be offered.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like she defintely needs medical attention. I would see if your parents can drive her to a rehab center or some rehab volunteers will pick animals up so perhaps you can find someone to do this. Until then I would keep the bird in a quiet dark place and handle it as little as possible.

If the duckling is wild it would be best to seek out the help of a local wildlife refuge or rehab center that can safely treat and raise the baby until it is ready to go back out into the wild. Runny eyes and sneezing can be a sign of infection or respiratory illness, so keeping the baby warm, and eating and drinking may help until you can transfer it somewhere for care.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do other than try to keep the bird calm and quiet. I would avoid handling it as birds can pass illnesses to people and other pets. Trying to find a wildlife rehab that can take it ASAP is best!

Hello. Looks like you have a pretty young mallard duck. You will need to purchase a bag of duck feed, or at least start the little guy on a chick starter ( hopefully you have some feed stores in your country ) & keep him on this until he looses all his down & is fully feathered. This will be around 7-9 weeks. He will not survive on granola or just bread. Keep him warm & protected & he should grow just fine. You might also see if there are any wildlife rehabilitators in your area who can do a much better job raising & releasing the duckling in a safe manner. A rehabber will have the knowledge, experience and contacts to allow the squirrel its best chance at recovery and eventual release. Keep it warm and as stress free as possible until you contact a rehabilitator.

The best thing to do is to find a certified wildlife rehabilitator. Don't try to feed it until you do. Feeding the wrong foods accounts for more problems than going without a short time.
