What should I do if I find a baby bird that fell from its nest?

  If you know where the nest is located, it is best to put the bird back in it ASAP. It is very common for baby birds to fall from the nest -- this does not mean they are abandoned, only that they either fell or are learning to fly, and their parents will usually continue to feed the baby from their location.
  
  If you cannot locate the nest, seeking out the assistance of a local wildlife rehab center that can take in the bird, feed it, and release it back into the wild once old enough is best.

  If you can see the nest and safely get to it, try to return it to the nest. If not, leave it and watch for the parents. If you don't see them, transport the chick to an experienced wildlife rehabilitator. You can usually get contact information from the local veterinary clinic.

  It's best to leave the bird alone especially if it's parents are there. Quite often birds fledge the nest a few days before they can fly, the parents will continue to look after it. If it is in a dangerous place in your yard you could gently move it to a safer spot.

  Bring the nestling back to where you found it, as the parents will keep feeding it on the ground. If you cannot do this then take him to your closest wildlife rehabilitation place. You can search for one in your browser. It is very difficult to raise wild chicks.
