Can I give my budgie lettuce? Is it safe for parakeets to eat?

Fruits, vegetables and greens should account for approximately 20 - 25% of the daily diet. Pale vegetables, with a high water composition (i.e. Iceberg or Head lettuce, celery) offer very little nutritional value. Avocado is reported to be potentially toxic. It could be that Tweety just isn't used to apple yet. I would keep offering it to see if she starts to like it. Other veggies such as salad greens, strawberries, broccoli, etc may be fun for her to try out. Remove any uneaten food daily to avoid spoiling.

They can eat just about anything that you eat with a few exceptions. Ideally, Blue should be transitioned to a pelleted diet (Harrison's, Roudybush, Lafeber, Pretty Bird or Exact) and supplement with a small amount of a fortified seed mix mix, cooked grains/beans/pastas.

Finches and budgies can eat a commercially available seed or pelleted diet (found in most pet stores or on the internet). A wide variety of vegetables including greens, red/orange/yellow vegetables such as carrots and squashes. Fruits are more like treats, due to high sugar content. As per handling them. If your budgies are actively eating on their own you can offer some vegetables and sprouts to them in small amounts, however make sure it doesn't make up the bulk of their diet. They should still be on a regular balanced budgie diet to ensure they stay healthy and growing.

It is not necessary to provide fruit and veggies daily as these are considered enrichment, and not necessary for nutritional requirements.
