My cockatiel's bottom is lumpy, crusty, and bleeding. What's wrong?

I would have your vet evaluate the lump to see what it is such as a cyst, abscess, tumor, etc, especially if it is bleeding and bothersome to Rakhi. Until you can get to your vet, keeping the bump as clean and dry as possible and fashioning an Elizabethan (cone) collar for her (Google has tutorials on how to make bird-sized ones) can help.

It sounds as if Eddie may be malnourished or losing weight. The difficulty perching may be due to nutritional, metabolic, infectious or neurological issues. You will need to have him physically examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet to diagnose the underlying cause. For now, remove or lower perches, pad the bottom of his cage, use small towels to provide support to keep him upright. Keep him warm and as stress free as possible until he sees the doctor.

If it doesn't begin to heal in a few days or is actively bleeding, see your veterinarian or an experienced avian vet. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or loose droppings. Hello. Blood in the droppings is not normal. This could signify an serious infection of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, or reproductive tract since birds have a single common opening for all 3 systems (the cloaca). Other possible causes of blood would be a retained or broken egg, heavy metal toxicity, foreign body, trauma, or a bleeding tumor. Whatever the underlying cause, it is potentially serious and requires a thorough assessment and treatment by a veterinarian. One thing I have seen is birds that have recently eaten red berries or other red food may pass droppings that may resemble blood. If Angel hasn’t recently (within 12-24 hours) eaten anything very red, then i would take her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. Good luck.
