My budgie touched neem oil. Is it toxic or safe for birds to ingest?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | 6 months and 24 days old | 35 lbs

My budgies were having dry legs so I was putting neem oil to their feet. When shizuka had a nib on the earbud from which I was applying the oil. She didn't liked it. Is it serious if she comes in contact with neem oil?

She should be fine as it was only a tiny amount, so I wouldn't worry too much. However, if your budgie has dry legs I would be worried about a mite infection with knemedicoptes, it causes roughness in the leg scales. You can treat the mites with spot in treatment such as xeno.
