My bird seems thin. How do I know if it's eating enough food?

It is hard to say, judging by the pictures alone, how much weight your bird has gained. I would recommend getting a gram scale so you can weigh her at least weekly to monitor her weight. The best thing you can do to keep her healthy is to offer her a high-quality pelleted bird food like Harrison‘s or Zupreme. Give her a small amount of fresh fruits and veggies, about 10% of her diet, and very few seeds/nuts. These offer a little nutritional value, have lots of fat and calories, and can cause issues with the liver later in life. I hope this helps. You can have Rangu examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health and a proper weight. Birds have different body types just like people, so there will be variations. Monitor weight, appetite, behavior and droppings. If there are any negative changes, have them addressed by your vet.

If she is ill (renal, liver, intestinal, other) then that must be determined in hopes of fixing the problem. A veterinary visit is needed to come to those conclusions. I would recommend getting a small scale (possibly a food scale) and weighing ZR every day for a week. IF he weight decreases but goes back up I would not be to concerned. IF you find his weight decreases over the week but he is still eating I would recommend taking him to the vet for blood work. weight loss could be a sign of illness in ZR. With his young age I really think it is most likely a normal change in weight due to growing and maturing

You should start with a CBC (complete blood count) to look for signs of infection, a serum biochemistry to check kidney/liver function, and possibly radiographs. You need to feed more than twice daily and improve the caloric intake, but food is not fixing the problem. Continue to heat support so Nibbles doesn't get cold and have to shiver to generate heat, thereby using up calories. Good luck.

You can get a human scale and weigh yourself and then weigh yourself again holding him. Then subtract the two weights and you will get an estimate of his weight. I can tell you, it is VERY rare for a cat to be too thin. You would have to be severely underfeeding him. The biggest issue with pet cats is obesity so I honestly would not be that worried. If you get his weight once a month (as explained above) and you notice he is losing weight then you should get him to a vet for an exam.
