How to stop my 2-month-old colt from being aggressive and kicking?

Hello. I am sorry for your delay in an answer, but you should be trying to touch & handle the foal every day. It may not be much at all, but each time, try a little longer. In a few weeks, it should be familiar enough with you to try & place a halter on her. Do not leave it on, just leave for a few minutes & increase the time each day. The foal will soon associate you with friendly pats & good scratches. It just takes a little patience. And I hope you do not feed your mare that much bread every day! I think you really need to have a chat with your veterinarian and your parents. I think you have taken on a large responsibility that really you are not able to take on. Please talk this over with your parents and your vet or anybody else that you know as a horse person. It is all well and good to try and rescue or rehabilitate a "damaged" horse, but unfortunately sometimes they cannot be rehabilitated. It is not your fault, and it is a noble cause for you, but imagine you or someone gets hurt. That would be terrible. DO not ever go near him without wearing a helmet, better yet, do not get in the stable with him. He could kill you.

Actual aggression in a two month old dog is highly unusual, and a definite sign of bad things to come unless it is nipped in the butt immediately. I would highly recommend obtaining professional help from a behaviorist or dog trainer before Blue turns in a large adult dog with behavioral issues. In the mean times, do not interact with Blue if he shows any signs of aggression what so ever. You do not want him to mistake attention given to him as a reward. Typically I never recommend punishment since it is not as valuable a tool as positive reinforcement. However, in extremely young puppies such as these sometimes punishment can be effective. Once again, professional assistance is highly recommended in this instance. Hope this makes sense.

Hello. First, know that this is normal behavior. Mares especially can be aggressive to geldings & even other mares. It can take several days to up to 3 months for everyone to settle down. If possible, the horses should be separated where they can see, smell & possibly touch each other, but can flee if the situation requires it. If you can not place the horses in adjacent paddocks, they should have separate resources far enough apart so that no guarding occurs. 2 water sources & feeding far enough apart ( or confining the mare ) until all grain is consumed & for up to 20 minutes after is necessary. Once the gelding has finished & is grazing quietly, you can release the mare. If any of the horses are wearing shoes, pulling them temporarily may prevent significant injury. If the behavior does not seem to at least be calming down in another week or so, you may need to have your mare evaluated for an ovarian problem or even granulosa cell tumor. These can cause significant hormonal changes in mares resulting in almost stallion type behavior. Have patience, a week is only a short time to try to buddy up two horses. You should not kick your horse in the stomach to make him move. This is rough handling and it is no wonder that he reacts the way he reacts. You will need to do gentle ground work with him teaching him to move on command, not on kick. You may familiarize yourself with clicker training or work with a trainer teaching your horse good ground manners without violence.

Puppies will normally bite while playing, but he needs to be redirected to biting a more appropriate toy. If he is truly aggressive at 8 weeks of age, he needs significant intervention with a reputable positive reinforcement dog trainer or veterinary behaviourist.

I find that flipping puppies that misbehave on their back in your arms or on the ground and holding them in place for a minute or two helps. I've had some fairly aggressive puppies that this trick worked well with. Also, saying in a stern voice "off!" or "stop!" when the unwanted behavior happens can help correct this as well. I would also consider incorporating a spray bottle filled with water and using this every time the puppy becomes aggressive. I hope this helps!
