What foaling signs should I watch for in my mini mare with dwarf gene?

There are no rules for that, it does not matter how big the litter is. She well may go over 60 days this time. Good luck with her, hope she will go through the labour ok and have healthy, strong pupps.

Hopefully this is just vaginal or uterine tissue you are seeing as she is getting closer to delivery. Monitor her closely for discharge from the vulva that is cloudy, bleeding from the vulva, or excessive lethargy. Start checking her rectal temperature every 4 - 6 hours - once it falls below 99, she should start to go into labor in 12 hours or so. And take her to the emergency vet if you see any concerning signs before your vet opens on Tuesday.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Oh she sure is very pregnant! I wouldn't leave her for more than 2 hours. My guess would be any days now, I'm thinking 3/28. I would start tracking her rectal temperature for the drop below 99F. You Vet can take an X-ray to see how many to expect but they probably can't be anymore accurate. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This is an emergency and you need to have a veterinarian present to help you. If you have tried pulling with no luck, then the vet may need to do a fetotomy. I don't recommend you do much else on your own as you may rupture the uterus and/or cause serious damage to the doe. You must understand that not all things can be fixed at home yourself. A fetotomy entails the vet dismembering the kid inside the uterus (a delicate procedure as to not damage the uterus) because it can be removed easier in pieces. I know this sounds gruesome but sometimes it is the only way to correct the problem. The vet of course will evaluate the situation thoroughly before doing this procedure to see if anything else can be done before resorting to this. Also, the doe may have uterine inertia now because she has been in labor too long. This is where the uterus just stops contracting and it is usually due to fatigue and decreased electrolytes and calcium. The vet can give fluids to correct this and can also administer a drug to help increase the uterine contractions again. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

You can also [take her temperature](https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-take-your-pet-s-temperature) twice daily at the same time each day to determine when she will go into labor A dog’s normal temperature is between 100 to 102.5F degrees. Her temperature may fluctuate during this time, but once her temperature falls below 99 degrees, she should go into labor in the next 24 hours.

This can be a normal discharge. She will start to nest, not eat as much and have some milk from her nipples when she is about to give birth. Most dogs don't have trouble having puppies but it's best to keep a close eye on her with allowing her privacy in a quiet area. Good luck with the puppies.
