My horse backs up and lowers head when saddled. Is his back sore?

Pet's info: Farm Animal | Horse | Male | neutered | 15 years and 5 months old | 1200 lbs

Hi I have a horse who when I’ve been racking him up like after he has his girth and saddle on he backs up a little bit and lowers his head like he’s in shock from me tacking him up. This is not normal for him. Please help

Sounds like his back is sore. The saddle may not be fitting properly. I suggest you get your vet out to check his back. If it is sore, you may have to adjust your tack. Always rule out a medical issue before assuming it is a behavior issue.
