Hello. This is fine to use. I would not recommend giving both of these on the same day. Give one on the first of the month & the second on the 15th so there are no drug interactions. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Tri-Heart is generic Heartgard and is just as effective. I am not sure why your vet won't prescribe it for you. You cannot buy any heartworm prevention over the counter so you will need a prescription. I suggest you bring your dog to one of the VETCO vaccine clinics at your local Petco stores (see schedule below). Bring proof of his last negative heartworm test and they can give you a prescription for the Tri-Heart. There is no charge for the exam. Just the cost of the medication. Hope this helps! If you have a tick problem I recommend Heartgard for heartworm prevention and bravecto for fleas and ticks. That is the most economical combination of oral medications at the PetCo clinics. Trifexis doesn’t do ticks so you would need another product as well. I prefer not to use a collar or topical for flea and tick prevention, especially if you have children around. Thanks for using Boop by Petco to help you care for Chester.

Simparica Trio is a similar medication that treats fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms. It's a chewable tablet rather than a topical, but is easy to give and can help bridge the gap until you're back on your regular medication. It is best to confirm it is safe to give with your vet if Mia has any other underlying health conditions or issues, and your vet can order it or provide a prescription to an online service such as Chewy.

Oh no! Fleas are not a fun surprise! Trifexis prevents fleas, heartworms and some intestinal parasites. Since this isn't working for you, I typically recommend using either Nexgard, Bravecto or K9 Advantix II as flea and tick prevention. Please note that Nexgard and Bravecto are prescription-based (like the Trifexis), so these would need to be obtained by Prince's vet. Prince and his friend will also need to start a separate heartworm prevention, such as Heartgard or Interceptor, but again, these are prescription-based. Until you can pick up these new medications, you can bathe both dogs in original blue Dawn dish soap because this will help to kill the existing adult fleas. I hope this helps and that all goes well!
