Over the counter flea products that are fine to use with sentinel include frontline plus, advantage and Advantix. Just be sure to not bathe your dog a couple days before or after applying any of those products as that can affect how effective they are.

Sentinel has no tick coverage and does not kill fleas. It only sterilizes the eggs. I always go up a size to be safe as most dogs gain weight but rarely lose weight. It has a good safety margin so using the 25-50 pounds medicine would be best. You will continue to need the Simparica or nexgard with this

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If you are talking about a praziquantel injection, I think the Sentinel is a much better option. The injection burns and it only treats one type of parasite. The Sentinel treats many. I recommend the Sentinel. Kisses to Penny!

Sentinel is a monthly heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention. It also is a birth control for fleas. This means it does not kill the adult flea but it prevents them from laying eggs. If your pet has a flea allergy, this product would not be helpful because the flea would still be able to bite. There are many other flea preventions that kill adult fleas like Nexgard, Vectra, Frontline Gold, and Revolution. If you are having flea problems, I would talk to your vet about other options they have. Good luck!

You are right to be concerned a lot ticks! Three is a lot of tick illness in the US. There are both oral and topical products that control fleas and ticks. Sentinel doesn't even kill fleas or prevent them from biting your pet. Nexgard is the only oral flea and tick med for pets under 6 months. Frontline is a topical product that kills fleas and ticks. Seresto collars are great and last 8 months. Because Sentinel doesn't even kill the fleas, there is no overlap if you ask your vet about one of these meds.
