My cat won't eat from her slow feeder. How can I get her to use it?
It may just take some time for Pumpkin to get used to the feeder. Some cats also don't like having their whiskers touch the sides of the bowl, so getting a larger sized bowl may also help. If she refuses to use it at all, feeding smaller, more frequent meals in a regular bowl can help her get enough to eat without eating too much and vomiting after a meal.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are a few things that you can consider including splitting her feedings into a few a day using the slow feeder. You can look into getting a different slow feeder. Also, you can consider basically throwing her food (kibble) in a room which is going to spread it out and Jackie will have to eat it more slowly. Hi and thanks for posting! Yes, it is likely she is not chewing her food and is instead gulping her food. This could be caused by eating too quickly or may be due a dental problem. You may consider having Layla seen by her veterinarian to rule out a tooth issue as a cause. If a dental issue is ruled out, she may be eating too quickly and you may consider feeding smaller amounts more frequently or purchasing a slow feeder such as the one I have linked below. Why is my cat peeing on the food mat and bowls? How to stop it?
There are a large number of reasons that a cat will inappropriately urinate (urinate outside the litter box). I am attaching a handout below which discusses this in detail. https://www.vin.com/veterinarypartner/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951508 The first step in figuring out why a cat is urinating outside the litter box is to have your veterinarian do an examination and get a urine sample to evaluate for a medical reason. This is a little challenging since you're not sure which cat is doing it. There are some options to determine which cat is the problem, so it is worth speaking to your vet about that or you can get urine samples on both cats. If that is normal, then we need to look at other possibilities. The handout above discusses litter box issues that can play a role. Make sure you have at least 3 litter boxes (since the "correct" number of boxes is the number of cats plus one), they are not covered or lined, and are cleaned daily. You may also want to try products like Cat Attract Litter (https://www.drelseys.com/shop/cat-attract/). You should also look at decreasing stress in case that is playing a role. One option for decreasing stress is to add a Feliway Diffuser ( https://www.feliway.com ) to your house. This is a calming pheromone that will work for a month. I have also had luck with Rescue Remedy ( http://www.bachflower.com/rescue-remedy-pet/ ) which can be added to the water. You could also consider calming music specifically for cats ( http://throughadogsear.com/tace/through-a-cats-ear-1-music-for-calming/ ). All of these products are safe for both cats. If your veterinarian cannot find a medical reason and all litter box issues have been dealt with, then it may be time to discuss medication with your veterinarian. My cat is always hungry and eats wet food too fast. How to slow?
Feeding our pets is often a tough love situation. Many cats simply do not stop eating when they have consumed a sufficient amount of food, so it is up to us to only provide them with proper portions. Since Obe has not lost weight, he is consuming an appropriate amount of food. However, there are some ways that you can try to slow down his pace of eating. Try spreading his wet food over a large surface area (such as a baking sheet) or put small amounts of his wet food into different sections of a muffin tin so that he has to work for his food more. Other puzzle toys (here are some ideas for homemade ones: https://www.purina.com/articles/cat/feeding/diy-cat-puzzle-feeder) can be useful in feeding wet food, just as they are for dry food. At this point, it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about, but it may make everyone's life easier if you can slow down Obe's pace of eating with one of these ideas. I hope this helps!
