Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Steroid use, dosing and the taper needs to be decided upon by a Vet that has examined the pet. We can not prescribe drugs or tell you how to use a drug because we legally are not allowed to. I am sorry. I recommend calling your Vet and asking them since they have a legal relationship with you. Have a great day!

Hello. Make sure both doctors know that you are giving both medications. I would continue the Doxycycline & the prednisolone until you have spoken to at least one of the vets. It sounds like Doemoe needs either skull x-rays or an MRI to properly diagnose her nasal problem. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

I'm sorry to hear that Bugger has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Unfortunately, it is illegal for me (or any other vet on PetCoach) to make any specific dosage or medication recommendations for Bugger since I have not examined him in person. It's really important that you get Bugger established with a new vet for ongoing care, particularly since he has an ongoing chronic issue. He will need monitoring not only to track the progression of his SCC, but also to monitor his heart, liver and kidney function, and to be sure that he doesn't develop diabetes as a result of chronic steroid treatment. This article has more information about prednisone (prednisolone is equivalent, but in a form that is more bioavailable for cats): https://www.petcoach.co/pet-medication/prednisone/. I hope that everything goes well for Bugger!

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this with Buster. I know how frustrating that can be. I have a few ideas. The Prednisone can be compounded into a liquid that tastes good (not the cherry flavored liquid that is available at a regular pharmacy), but you will still likely need to give it in his mouth if he is not eating his new food well. So, I would ask your vet to teach you how to wrap Buster in a towel to safely administer medications. You may also ask them how to give his pills that way. There are some wonderful compounding pharmacies that will require shipping time like Roadrunner ( https://www.roadrunnerpharmacy.com/ ), but you may have a compounding pharmacy near your that may be able to help you. Some compounding pharmacies will compound medications into treats as well like BCP ( http://bcpvetpharm.com/ ). Good luck! I hope that was helpful and gives you some ideas. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

I'm so sorry to hear that Sadie is not doing well. Cats very rarely develop the side effects of increases in thirst and urination that dogs and people do while they are taking Prednisone, so I would be suspicious of another problem going on. I would recommend having your veterinarian check urine and blood samples on Sadie to evaluate for another problem before considering stopping Prednisone. Hopefully your veterinarian is able to find a solution to the problem! Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.
